Itinerary
Morning: The Thrilling Ascent via Chander Gari
The adventure kicks off at dawn. After reaching Khagrachari or Dighinala via an overnight journey, you step into a Chander Gari—the iconic, open-backed 4x4 local jeep built to conquer rugged terrains.
-
The Convoy Experience: To ensure a safe journey through the mesmerizing Chittagong Hill Tracts, all tourist vehicles gather at the Baghaihat Army Camp to join the official morning military escort.
-
The Rollercoaster Road: The 3-hour mountain drive to the valley is an experience of its own. The vehicle twists and turns along steep, winding ridges, soaring up to nearly 1,500–1,800 feet above sea level. Out the windows, endless green horizons and remote tribal settlements flash by as the cool mountain air begins to take over.
Mid-Day: High-Altitude Resort Check-In & Lunch
By noon, you arrive at Ruilui Para, the main hub of Sajek Valley.
-
The Resort Experience: You check into your stilted, eco-friendly wooden or bamboo cottage. Stepping onto your private balcony, you are immediately greeted by panoramic views of the valleys below. The cottage offers a peaceful, rustic atmosphere where grid electricity gives way to solar power and a deeply relaxing environment.
-
Traditional Tribal Lunch: Head to a local eatery to experience authentic indigenous flavors. Feast on a hearty lunch featuring Bamboo Chicken (tender chicken slow-cooked inside a bamboo stalk with local herbs), traditional Vorta (mashed delicacies), wild hill vegetables, and steaming rice.
Afternoon to Evening: Sunset Chasing at the Helipad or Konglak Hill
As the midday heat melts into a crisp afternoon breeze, it’s time to head out to capture the perfect golden hour.
-
The Viewpoint Option 1: Sajek Helipad: A short, lively walk leads to the wide-open helipad area. It serves as a bustling social hub where travelers gather to sit on the edge of the world, sipping hot bamboo tea from local street vendors.
-
The Viewpoint Option 2: Konglak Hill (The Highest Peak): For the ultimate vintage point, take a short, exhilarating trek up to Konglak Para—the highest peak in the valley.
The Sunset Spectacle
Standing at the edge of the ridge, you witness nature's grand theater. The sky transforms into a canvas of deep violet, fiery orange, and soft pastel pinks. Below you, the vast emerald-green valleys stretch all the way into the Mizoram border of India.
As the sun dips behind the jagged mountain peaks, a massive, thick wave of white clouds begins to roll into the valleys, swallowing the hills whole. You aren't just looking at the sunset; you are standing above the clouds, watching the sky and earth blend into a quiet, breathtaking twilight.
🌅 Morning: The Magic of Sunrise & Early Exploration
-
The Wake-Up Call: Rise early to catch nature’s ultimate pre-dawn show.
-
The Experience: Head to the premier local viewpoint just as the first light breaks. Watch the sky transform into a breathtaking canvas of deep purples, fiery oranges, and soft gold. It’s the perfect, serene moment for breathtaking photography and quiet reflection before the world wakes up.
